Common Robak Setups #

This page gives you a peek at different Robak setups, configured for a variety of driving styles and conditions. You’ll get an overview of key specs like top speed, gear ratio, motor KV, and LiPo for each setup. For more information about the drive system, click here .

Note: Switching out wheels and LiPo is much simpler than changing motor and gears. Just by altering the wheel diameter or changing the LiPo voltage, you can significantly change your car’s performance. Make sure to take advantage of this easy customization option.

Allrounder #

This setup is perfect for anyone who loves driving on all sorts of surfaces. It’s awesome for speeding, kicking up dust on gravel, and watching rocks fly off the wheels. It handles frequent starts and stops well and can even tackle grassy areas. Just remember to keep an eye on the motor’s temperature from time to time.

  • Pinion Gear: 17T
  • Motor KV: 3300 KV
  • LiPo: 2S
  • Wheel Diameter: 126mm
  • Gear Ratio: 11:1
  • Top Speed: 49 km/h

Onroad #

This configuration is mainly for hard surfaces and uses smaller, lighter onroad wheels. It excels in quick acceleration, sharp braking, fast cornering, and blasting through straights. Ideal for racing and setting new lap records on an imaginary parking lot track, it’s one of my personal favorites.

  • Pinion Gear: 17T
  • Motor KV: 3300 KV
  • LiPo: 3S
  • Wheel Diameter: 100mm
  • Gear Ratio: 11:1
  • Top Speed: 58 km/h

Offroad #

Dedicated for rough terrain, this configuration involves swapping out the standard motor plate along with the pinion and spur gear for a 3D printed gear reduction. This modification enhances torque beyond even the smallest HSP pinion. Large offroad wheels offer increased ground clearance, while a high gear ratio delivers superb flexibility and control in driving at low speeds. If paired with sensored ESC and motor combo, it borders on the capabilities of crawling-type vehicles.

  • Gear Ratio: 19:1
  • Top Speed: 28 km/h

Low Top Speed #

This setup is ideal for beginners or very young drivers. It’s also great for custom applications such as carrying weight, towing, or for use in autonomous rover projects. Pairing it with a 3S LiPo battery can turn it into a swiftly accelerating beast.

  • Gear Ratio: 19:1
  • Top Speed: 22 km/h

High Top Speed #

This configuration is more demanding. You’ll probably need to stiffen the suspension, invest in higher-quality belted tires, and fine-tune the steering geometry and sensitivity. Using a gyro could help as the car might become less stable at high speeds. This setup puts a significant demand on the power system to accelerate the car. It’s best not used off-road, and try to avoid frequent starts and stops. Don’t forget to check the motor’s temperature between speed runs. If it’s hot, give it time to cool down.

  • Pinion Gear: 26T
  • Motor KV: 3300 KV
  • LiPo: 3S
  • Wheel Diameter: 100mm
  • Gear Ratio: 7:1
  • Top Speed: 90 km/h
